Puppets.

My fascination with stop-motion began as a child. I loved watching claymation and I was so intrigued by the clay puppets that brought these stories to life. It was always a bucket list item for me to create my own stop-motion puppet, and in 2017 I did just that. I created Abe with no reference, just bought some Super Sculpey clay, aluminum wire, and gave it a try. When I shared his photo on Instagram, people fell in love. And I haven’t stopped sculpting since.

In 2019, I decided to turn my puppet heads into magnets, and try selling them at conventions. Turns out Portland, OR, was just weird enough to want to put little old people on their fridges, so I started calling my creations “Fridge Folk.” It was amazing to see that people felt a connection to my art, and I even witnessed someone tear up over a particular character who reminded them of someone they knew and loved.

Though it initially started as a hobby, in 2021 I was approached by a band to create a music video featuring one of my puppets. You can check out my debut video with Norwegian band, Meg og kammeraten min, here!
